Divided lite window patterns exalt the personality and architecture of your home, that’s why window grills are an essential element for many architecture styles. The window muntins were originally used because the glassmakers couldn’t produce large glass panels, and the divided lites were perfect to connect multiple glazing panes, while today, they mostly have an aesthetic function.

True Divided Lite Window (TDL)

True Divided Lite, as tradition, continue to be produced separating multiple glass panels with muntins. The internal side can be customized choosing from our various selection of glazing beads, provided in the same alloy and finish of the window and door frame.

Advantages:

- Strength: Divided lights convey more stability and strength to the frame structure which is essential especially on the wide openings of the todays architecture styles.

- Maintenance: If necessary, replacing one single glass panel is easier and less expensive than a large window glass thanks to the reduced size and weight.

While there is a certain a advantage in replacing a single glass panel, we also need to consider that in the specific case of the window and door patters, the initial cost for the extra metal profiles and labor involved is much more expensive than and SDL window alternative.

Simulated Divided Lite Window (SDL)

Simulated Divided Lite is made from a single glass panel, having internal grids to simulate the spacer (typical of the glazing panels), with a surface grill attached on both glass faces.

Differently, than some other window metal manufactures which use aluminum on steel windows and doors, our internal decorative grill is furnished in the same alloy and finish of the window and door frame. In addition to that, both grill faces are welded respectively on the external window face and to the interior glazing bead.

Advantages:

- Appearance: SDL windows provide narrower sightline which results in 1” inch widths or even smaller. The interior surface grill perfectly integrates with the selected glazing bead.

Performance: Single glass panel reduces the thermal conduction than multiple panels alternative, which results in lower U-Factor window ratings.
